On May 19, “Meet Australia 2026” was successfully held at the Binh Duong Convention and Exhibition Center (BCEC), attracting more than 800 participants from government agencies, trade promotion organizations, enterprises, and Vietnam – Australia partners.
The opening ceremony was attended by Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong, Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs; Mr. Nguyen Loc Ha, Member of the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and Standing Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee; Ms. Gillian Bird, Australian Ambassador to Vietnam; Ms. Kate Wallace, Australian Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City; along with representatives from diplomatic agencies, experts, universities, and the Vietnam – Australia business community.
The event contributed to strengthening trade connectivity, expanding investment cooperation opportunities, and enhancing bilateral economic relations between Vietnam and Australia as both countries continue to advance their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Speaking at the opening session, Mr. Nguyen Loc Ha, Standing Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, stated that Ho Chi Minh City is moving toward a faster, greener, smarter, and more internationally competitive development model, with a focus on high technology, logistics, innovation, education and training, and the green economy. He also expressed his expectation that the program would foster practical and long-term cooperation between Vietnamese and Australian businesses and partners.

From the perspective of foreign affairs and national strategy, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Manh Cuong emphasized that the event serves as an important bridge to realize economic cooperation within the framework of the Vietnam – Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, while opening up cooperation opportunities in digital technology, renewable energy, logistics, education, and innovation.

Ms. Gillian Bird, Australian Ambassador to Vietnam, highlighted that the program serves as an important platform for promoting dialogue, partnerships, and practical cooperation between the business communities of the two countries, particularly in infrastructure, clean energy, technology, education, and services.

Throughout the program, more than 250 Business Matching sessions were conducted, creating opportunities for enterprises from both countries to directly connect, exchange cooperation needs, and explore development opportunities in trade, investment, innovation, green energy, and human resource development.
In addition to business networking activities, the thematic discussion sessions also provided valuable insights into the cooperation potential between Vietnam and Australia in the context of sustainable economic development and green transformation.
Through the event, WTC Binh Duong New City (WTC BDNC) continued to reinforce its role as a destination for trade connectivity, investment promotion, and international trade promotion activities in Southern Vietnam.
