Chau Thoi Pagoda
Chau Thoi Pagoda
Chau Thoi Pagoda is located on Chau Thoi Mountain, in Dong Hoa Ward, Ho Chi Minh City. The pagoda sits at an altitude of approximately 82 meters above sea level, surrounded by a vast plain and many beautiful artificial lakes. It is considered a prominent scenic and spiritual destination amidst the open landscape of the plain. On the 15th and 1st days of the lunar month and during major festivals, it always attracts a large number of visitors who come to visit and worship Buddha.
Chau Thoi Pagoda is the oldest pagoda in Binh Duong and also one of the earliest pagodas in the Southern region of Vietnam. To reach the pagoda, visitors can choose one of two routes: walking up 220 cement steps, or traveling directly up the mountain via the road for vehicles. The pagoda still preserves many valuable ancient statues such as the Eighteen Arhats and the Ten Kings of Hell. Notably, the pagoda also preserves three stone Buddha statues dating back to the late 18th century.
